If you have questions regarding adventure tours or this web site, simply post them below. My team or myself will answer them and update this FAQ periodically. Any other messages will be trashed.
FAQ
What’s included in the price?
Pretty much everything other than your flight. For the price of the tour you get vehicle rental, insurance, 3 meals a day, hotels, gas, activities….the only things you’d probably pay for would be your motorcycle gear and if you go out drinking at night…etc… then that usually isn’t covered.
What currency are the prices listed in?
Unless otherwise state, all prices are listed in USD.
The trip is on scooters?? Can I get a motorbike?
You can if you’re willing to pay triple the price and leave a sizable damage deposit. Scooters are the best vehicle for this tour…trust me. But if you’re wealthy, then hey….I’ll let you ride my Ninja.
Do I need a motorbike license?
No, in Taiwan you have to ride a scooter before you can drive a car. So if you have a car license that’s good enough. Just pick up an international driving license at your local police station or wherever you get it in your town. For a heavy motorbike, an international motorbike license will be needed.
Is there an age limit?
I suppose you’d need to be at least 18.
I don’t want to ride, but I want to go….can I?
Yeah, sure. We can put you on the back of someone else’s scooter (perhaps on the back of my own). Or you could train it to each city then hang with us.
How many hours will we be riding each day?
I don’t want people too tired to enjoy themselves. So we’ll try to keep it between 6-10 hours each day. But once we reach each hotel you can either hang out with the group or go riding/exploring on your own.
What do I need to bring?
Motorcycle gear and rain gear are the two things everyone must have. If you don’t have them then you can buy them here for cheaper than most other places.
Is the deposit refundable?
I will refund most/all of the deposit if asked early enough. The closer we are to the tour date the less you can expect to get back.
How do I apply for a visa to enter Taiwan?
A landing visa of 30 days is granted on arrival, which is long enough for the tour. If you want longer you need to apply at your local Taiwan “Trade Office” (embassy).
Where is the best place to convert currency?
I’d convert foreign money to local in Taiwan, at the airport. They give a very fair conversion price as they are government run and not private.
Should I purchase travelers insurance or will Taiwan (being universal healthcare) take care of me for “free”?
Basic insurance is included which covers medical costs. But not the scooter repairs.
Once I land in Taipei, do I need to find my way to a prearranged hotel or will your company meet us at the airport for transport?
I tried picking people up, but I’m generally very busy with last minute preparations. But Chung-Li (the starting point) is close to the airport. You can taxi to the hotel from the airport for about 20 bucks.
Will I be sharing a hotel room with anyone if I am by myself?
Most nights you’ll share. Sometimes we have solo rooms, but most prefer to stick with the group. More fun in the room with people.
Do public places (e.g. coffee shops) typically have free WiFi?
Hotels will have Wi-Fi and I can use my own phone as a portable “hotspot”.
What airport do I land at?
Taoyuan Airport – Also known as Chiang Kai Shek or CKS (previous name) I think it’s code is TPE for Taipei.
How will luggage be transported?
If riding by scooter you can put some in the seat and some in your backpack. For the length of the trip that should be enough room. If you have extra luggage you can keep it at the starting hotel….as we start and end the tour at the same hotel.
Aside from the scenery and riding scooters, what else is planned?
We will try to have a wide range of activities planned….everything from paint balling in abandoned hotels, mini-golf, go kart championships…etc. We will also try to have a “plan B” if weather goes against original plan.
What currency are the priced listed in?
Is the price for one person or is it also applicable to couples?
Price would be a bit cheaper for couples since they’d only need one bike.
Exactley how long does the tour run for? How many days does it take?
do you have a minimum number for the tour group? Also, I would love to do this but it could be a year or two until I have the funds. Is this something that will be going on for 2012 and beyond?
Also, are meals included?
What time should we arrive in Taipai?
You don’t arrive in Taipei. You arrive on the first day of the tour or earlier…..and just let us know your flight info before hand.
Meals are included in the quoted price. But I’ve decided to NOT include meals and LOWER the price.
We need 4-5 as a minimum. But the Sept tour will take place regardless.
The Tour is 10 days.
Is the flight separate or is that included in the $1113?
The flight alone will cost more than 1113. So no. It’s not included. BUT, if you were to look at the cost of doing a motorcycle tour within your own country it will still probably cost over 2 or 3 grand.
how about a person who got their licence at the age of 16. are they allowed to ride a scooter/motorcycle
If you get an international license then….why not?
So, even if I have all gear, the money, an internation license for 125cc bikes, I still cant come if im 16?
Hmmm, seems like I need to wait two damn years…oh well, atleast then I have most likely taken my A license so I can drive any motorcycle
In the UK I have a full motorcycle lisence, however over here if your under 21 when you get your lisence you can ride any motorcycle as long as it’s restricted to 33bhp or below (25kw). I’m 18 and would like to ride a motorcycle not a scooter on the tour, would that still be possible?
How many city will the tour cover? is there like a itinerary with info such as schedule, places of interest, etc etc
We do a lap around the whole Island. I don’t want to put up a detailed itinerary because I want to keep it a “surprise” and I sometimes make last minute changes based on weather and other factors. Also I don’t want uninvited “guests” trying to tag along with us.
